Self Portrait

Charcoal is one of my favourite mediums. One can achieve different tones just by rubbing or adding a few strokes. I have painted several self-portraits since I joined The Art Academy. It is very liberating to detach and think of yourself as an object. I learnt a lot form this process.

This particular portrait is a ‘Reverse self-portrait’ where the mirror is in front and easel is next to you. You are looking at yourself in the mirror whilst also looking at your drawing in the mirror and sketching. Gosh … confusing right! Also hard! But glad to attempt this and its my favourite one!
